Self Care Ideas
We all struggle with stress in our lives. Being a senior in college, I stress more than I probably should. Finding ways to unwind and relax when I’m feeling stressed have helped me through a lot. Finding what works for you and creating a self care routine will help you live a happier, more stress free life. Today, I want to share with you some self care that works for me in hopes that it will work for you as well!
Before I get started, I know a lot of you are probably thinking I don’t have time to relax, I’m too busy, but self care is extremely important. It’s something that you need to make time for. Whether that means waking up ten minutes earlier than normal or taking a few deep breaths throughout the day, taking time to focus on yourself and relax is something we all deserve.
Sometimes self care can simply be treating yourself to something that makes you happy. I love making myself a cup of coffee in the morning and taking the time to sit down and enjoy it. Some days, I take a trip to Starbucks instead!
Meditation is an amazing way to clear your mind and relax. My favorite time for meditation is right when I wake up, but you can do this during any time of the day. For me, meditating in the morning helps to start my day off in a positive light. I use the app Headspace, but there are plenty to choose from. You can even find meditation videos with a simple YouTube search.
The gym is a big stress reliever for me. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I go to the gym and sweat it out. I like to do interval training on the treadmill or elliptical. Group fitness classes are a lot of fun too! Afterwards, you’ll feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
Candles / Diffuser
Candles and diffusers are always my go-to when I feel stressed. Having a candle lit or calming essential oils just adds a sense of relaxation and puts me in a better mood.
