When I was younger, I remember seeing far away places in magazines or on tv and dreaming about visiting or even living in those places someday. They seemed so exciting! Up until a few years ago, I wasn't so sure I liked living in Pittsburgh. I thought there was nothing to do and that I was missing out on great adventures. I remember thinking the only places to go were the mall or the movies. Now, my opinion has completely turned around. Maybe it's because I got my license a few years ago, or maybe it's because Pittsburgh is really evolving. I don't know what happened, but I am absolutely in love with this city I call home.
It feels like every time I leave the house, I find a new hidden gem that I can't believe I hadn't discovered beforehand. On this day, a friend and I went down to the river walk (one of my favorite places in PGH), and when we got hungry we ventured out to East Carson Street and came across the Double Wide Grill. It's always so difficult to find restaurants that can make both vegetarians/vegans and meat eaters happy. This place had a whole vegan menu along with a regular menu (they also have a gluten free menu), how exciting is that!? I got a "Veggyro", Rachel got tacos and we both left talking about when we had time to come back!
I guess we were feeling adventurous, because after lunch we headed to Oakland and found a BUBBLE TEA cafe called Fuku Tea. If you know me, you know I have an obsession with this drink. When they took the frozen yogurt place out of Ross Park Mall (the only place near me that had bubble tea) I went to an oriental market, bought tapioca bubbles, and tried to make my own because I really can't live without this stuff, guys. My attempt just didn't compare to the real deal, so finding Fuku was so so exciting for me. I can't wait to introduce my family and friends to this cute little cafe.
P.S. If you aren't a fan of bubble tea, they offer a variety of organic teas!
I love Pittsburgh and everything it has to offer.
